The Dyslexia Manifesto aims to lead Scotland toward becoming a world leader in inclusive education, skills and employment. With Dyslexia affecting 1 in 10 in Scotland, the need for more inclusive support is fundamental to Scotland’s continued growth.

On the programme, Rossie shared some valuable coping strategies (22:45) that can support dyslexic learners just as they did for him while he was at school—strategies that would ultimately lead to the founding of Dekko Comics in 2016, with this year marking Dekko’s 10th anniversary!

The programme also featured fellow Dyslexia Scotland ambassador and Mission Dyslexia co-author (alongside Julie McNeill), Paul McNeill. Paul continues to be a driving force for inclusive education and positive change in Scotland and beyond.

As part of its Dyslexia Manifesto, Dyslexia Scotland is encouraging everyone to sign its open letter which asks the Scottish government to commit to three deliverable, evidence-based solutions::

  • A national, digital School Leavers Passport – giving every young person portable, lifelong documentation of their strengths and support needs

  • A funded national pathway for adult dyslexia assessment – progressing toward free access and unlocking potential across the workforce

  • Mandatory dyslexia and neurodivergence training in all teacher education – supported by technology and assistive tools to embed inclusive practice from day one
