Journey of the BIG Carbon Footprint
This was a commission we made for NG Homes after our first comic for them (‘Young Green Champions’) won the CCF Award.
They wanted the workshop to be partly made with the collaboration of their communities’ children. So we ran workshops where the kids came up with ideas of how to get across the issue of the carbon footprint in a fun way. After the workshops, we made a professional comic based on the ideas they came up with in the comic, (you can see the original pieces of artwork the kids came up with at the end of the comic).
The aim was to help spread awareness and raise activism towards climate change through an engaging and entertaining way, and in a way that all ages could understand.
Below are the original ideas and artworks that the children within the NG Homes communities came up with during our creative workshops with them. They are a combination of ideas from Elmvale Primary School, African Challenge, Afghan United and the North Glasgow Chinese Community.
Look closely and you can see which comics were based on which ideas. The aim was to do their ideas justice and let their voices be heard through the art we created out of them.
These are some of the ideas we didn’t have space to include but wanted to give a nod to. Some of them we tried to include in the front cover and intro/conclusion comic story.
